Beautiful weather, it's impossible not to love spring here in Ohio. I had to get outside over Spring break to shoot my kids who are growing as fast as everything else here! I love spring!

I always seem to forget how tiny newborns are. Maybe because my belly is so enormous that I think "how can she be so small"! Or Maybe because my 2yr old used to be the baby, or maybe I just have a terrible memory. Sometimes when I'm holding her I think "I don't want to forget this", and I try to brand that moment in my memory forever. Hopefully these pictures will help me remember what an angel I've been given. Especially when she's the 2yr old!

This is my mom. Mother of 13 kids, balloon artist, breast cancer survivor, crossing guard, sunbeam teacher, and the most optimistic and charitable person I know. She has no inhibitions. She forgets almost everything you tell her. She owns a canoe and puts fish in the swimming pool. There is no person on earth like her, I love my mom!

My little girl turned 2 Saturday! I really like birthday parties, so we had a couple of her friends over for balloons and cupcakes. I know she's only two, but I couldn't help it. P was so excited he kept saying friday night "we gotta clean up for the party" and continued to pick up the whole house. H can now say "happy birthday" and even starts singing along to the song.

H. was in the best mood this morning, I couldn't resist taking her picture! I had just found the green skirt on clearance at Old Navy and when I put it on her this morning she ran around the house, dancing, like a true girl. I almost joined her she looked so cute. There is a little pond by our house that... Well, let me rephrase. There is a dry pond by our house (it has water in the summer months), that I had been dying to test out my new lens on the cattails. I knew they would look pretty in the afternoon lighting, but it has been so cold. Finally I ventured out and this is what I got. S is always such a good sport. He came home with muddy frozen shoes and a big smile.

Lake Estes

Jeremy and I had been wanting to check out Rocky Mountain National Park here in Co. for a while now. We ventured out Friday on the 3hr drive (one way), but by the time we got there it was nearly dark and we didn't feel like paying 20 bucks for a 1/2 hr of scenery, so we picnicked at Lake Estes, an amazingly beautiful lake at the mouth of the national park. I was happy enough to play with my new christmas present, and the kids were thrilled... except S., he happened to be sick and asleep in the car. You know how things go, never perfect, but it was still a good time. (at least for most of us)

To photoshop or not to photoshop....

Ok Alex, so you asked me about photoshopping your pictures. I've posted some photos for you so you can see the difference. The first is the PS version, the second straight from the camera. I'll agree with you that a good photographer doesn't have to photoshop... but I think now days it is going to make you stand out if you do. And you know how I just can't seem to help myself. (remember staying up with me after taking Sara's?) After you play around on PS you'll see what I mean. If you get the CS3 or CS4(the new version) you can create actions to cut down the time. Hope this helps.

The craziest thing happened today. While Spence was looking out our front door, a bird flew in our house. This little guy may not seem threatening, but let me tell you of the terror it instilled in all of us! He was flying around everywhere. After a lot of screaming, and running Jeremy was able to get him out with a blanket. The poor little guy was so exhausted he just sat on our wire outside. A bit of warning: careful when you hang a wreath on your door, you never know what could be nesting in it!Since I had my camera out, I had to take pictures of the tree. No wonder he wanted to come in, could you resist a sparkling home like this?

Sometimes the photos I'm not expecting to turn out at all end up being my most favorite. You should of seen my sister and I trying to get her daughter situated in the tiny basket, balancing it and waiting for the worried look on her face to go away. I imagine she was thinking right then "why are they laughing so hard, what am I doing here?"

I about died laughing when I saw these three shots . It is so typical of these guys. They can be such angels when they are by themselves, but put them togeather and all H!*# breaks loose! I've realized Spencer's hair is red for a reason, there is a little devil in there and Peter seems to bring it out better than anyone else. My mom used to always say to my sister and me, "Sisters are best friends." A little cheesy but certainly true. I think the same could be said of brothers... they just don't realize it yet.

I might be just a little excited about the new lens I got. So I decided to torture my kids today and try it out. Lucky for me they didn't have school today because of elections. I'm so thrilled with the results! Just posted a few of my favs.

Yesterday was so fun! We're on fall break here in Co., so we decided to have a picnic in the forest. Of course I have to bring my camera... and a little rocking horse. Ok, so maybe I had a hidden agenda to take some pics. But it was seriously the perfect fall day, cool and sunny with bright colors everywhere. Hazel absolutley loved rocking in the tall grasses. We saw horseback riders, Mt. bikers, and wild campanula!

Beautiful Southern Colorado

So spur of the moment we decided to go camping for labor day. Our destination, Mesa Verde. It was such a good idea. We were excited to see a part of Co. we hadn't been to, have some quality family time, sleep in a sturdy tent, (2 man) all 5 of us, and a promising weather forecast... maybe, we hadn't really checked. It ended up being memorable, to say the least. Some of the highlights:

The stop at the sand dunes (another last minute decision, and 2 hr detour) was well worth it. I don't know why it's so fun to jump and roll around in sand. It just is.

Finding acorns with Spencer, he had never seen them before!

Sleeping through the rain and thunder storm at 8500 ft, in the tiniest tent ever.

Playing "Old Maid" Sunday night in our tent while the rain poured around us. *note, if someone has a sneaky smile when you take their card, it is probably the Old Maid.

Exploring ancient ruins with the kids.

Driving home through groves of aspens and towering peaks... so breathtaking.

And yes, I'd been dying to get a family picture, our last one was before Hazey was born, so with a lot of bribing about Mcdonalds and stuff, well...

I don't think anyone could ask for a better kid than Hazel. She evens out the rambunctiousness caused by the two boys and is always smiling and laughing, full of sunshine. That is, until it's picture taking time... So 3 different photo shoots, tons of coaxing, and billion bubbles later this is what I got.
